Matthew R. Cox 1971-2019

STREATOR – Matthew R. Cox, 47, of Streator, passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 4, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Winterrowd Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with cremation rites following services. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.

Matt was born on April 11, 1971, in Streator to Terrence L. and Donalda (McDermaid) Cox Sr.

He is survived by daughters Cassie (Charles) Sherwood, of Streator, and Rachel Cox, of Ransom; granddaughters Isabella and Taylor; fiancée Sally Chapman, of Streator; his father Terrence (Lois) Cox, of La Salle; brothers Terrence (Jamie) Cox Jr., of Saunemin, Don (Chris) Cox, of Streator, Michael (Yolanda Williams) Mauk, of Streator and Nathan (Tina Peck) Mauk, of Cape Coral, Fla.; sister Tammy (Andy) Geiss, of Streator; several nieces and nephews; aunts Henrietta Carnduff and Barbara Martin, both of Streator.

Matt attended Streator High School and was employed by Sigan America in Ottawa. Matt enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Blackhawks fan.
