LA SALLE — Burton Hess, 88, of La Salle and formerly of Utica, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be at a later date. Burgess Funeral Home in Utica is assisting the family.

He was born Oct. 31, 1930, in La Salle, to Eugene and Christine (Rosencranz) Hess.

He served his country and was recalled during the Korean War in the Air Force.

He married Alodia Espinoza on Aug. 25, 1962.

He worked for Bakelite in Ottawa for several years. He served as Sexton for Oak Hill Cemetery in Utica for many years.

He is survived by one sister, Nancy (Ted) Pankoke; three grandchildren, Sara, Jason and Johnny; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1976; two sons, Roger in 2012 and John in 2017; one sister, Betty Jones; and two brothers, Leslie and Richard Hess.
