Troy scholastic bowl teams earn trophies

Both of the Troy Middle School Scholastic Bowl teams brought home second-place trophies from the recent Providence Catholic High School 18th annual Junior High Academic Bowl.

In addition, several of the Troy students placed in their subject areas.

Placing for the eighth grade were Alejandro Montes (first, social studies), Emmanuel Zamoras (first, English language arts), Trenton Marski (second, science), Josie Jarmuz (third, math) and Mary Papandria (fifth, English language arts).

Individuals who placed for the seventh-grade team were Ivan Chen (first, social studies), Vincent Lukas (second, science), Caden Baudek (third, social studies), Gavin Garcia (third, geography), Isabella Cyrkiel (fourth, geography), Cole Pearson (fourth, social studies) and Paige Rakes (fourth, math).

The eighth-grade team also included Abby Price, Gabriela Perez, Diego Martinez, Jesus Fileto, Regis Appiah, Brendan Olson and Sebastian Rojas.

Also on the seventh-grade team were Justin Boettger, Shradha Verma, Emily McCune, Eva Beck, Gavin Ringhofer, Jose Nevarez and Rylee Boyd.

The team’s sponsor is Troy Middle School Science Capstone teacher Barbara Will-Henn.
