DeKalb man identified after being killed by train Tuesday

DeKALB – A DeKalb man was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a train just east of 10th Street, DeKalb police Cmdr. Steve Lekkas said.

The pedestrian has been identified by the DeKalb County Coroner’s office as 25-year-old Abraham Perea.

Lekkas said police received a call about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and DeKalb police and the DeKalb County Coroner’s office are still investigating.

“We don’t believe that it was accidental, but there is no foul play suspected,” Lekkas said.

All railroad crossings in downtown DeKalb were blocked until about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Lekkas said.
