Ex-Forreston man to be sentenced for sex assault of a child

OREGON – A former Forreston man convicted Monday of sexually assaulting a then-5-year-old girl faces 6 to 60 years in prison at his sentencing next month.

Daryn A. Jacobs, 50, was found guilty after a 4-day trial of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, which carries 3 to 7 years.

He must serve 85 percent of his sentence and register as a sex offender.

The assaults occurred between May 23 and June 30, 2016.

“The successful prosecution of these crimes was only possible due to the bravery of the victim and the collaborative effort and hard work of a multidisciplinary team consisting of members of the Forreston Police Department, Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center, the Department of Children and Family Services, and the Ogle County State’s Attorney’s Office,” Ogle County State’s Attorney Eric Morrow said in a news release.
