Homer Glen official, resident to host fundraiser for family affected by house fire

Members of the Homer Glen community will host a fundraiser for a family recently affected by a house fire.

About 2:30 a.m. Nov. 14, the Alexandros/Gatses family awoke to a fire in their home in the Pebble Creek subdivision. All seven members of the family managed to escape unharmed, but the fire quickly spread, and they lost everything, including their pets and both cars.

The home was engulfed in flames and a total loss. The family still is living in a hotel while they look for a temporary home.

Homer Glen Village Clerk Ann Holtz and business owner Ruben Pazmino will host the fundraiser, and the Homer Glen Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Wednesday’s event at Rubi Agave, which Pazmino owns, according to a news release.

The fundraiser will feature a silent auction, with donations from the Homer Glen business community and area residents. Everyone in attendance will receive a free ticket for the drawing, and additional raffle tickets can be bought. There also will be a live DJ, food and cocktails, and admission is free.

Other participants include Backyard Games, Barnwood Sports Designs, Charter Fitness of Homer Glen, Chesdan’s Pizzeria, Davidson’s Bar and Grill, Habano Cigar Lounge, Infuego Furnishings, JNC Real Estate Investors, Kenwood Liquors, Pelican Harry’s Sports Bar, Tazza Italian Ristorante, Touch of Green, Petros and Liz Christofylakis and Tammy O’Connor-Premier Designs.

All proceeds will be donated to the family.

Rubi Agave is at 12622 W. 159th St. in Homer Glen. Doors open at 7 p.m. Registration for the raffle and the silent auction begin at 7:30 p.m. The drawing will be at 10 p.m. For information, call Holtz at 708-710-0681.
