Girls Basketball: Geneva's Meadows named NFHS Coach of the Year

Geneva's Sarah Meadows has been selected to receive the 2017-18 National Federation of State High School Associations girls basketball Coach of the Year Award for the state of Illinois, according to a press release by the Illinois High School Association. IHSA sports administrators selected a coach from each of their sports to receive this recognition. The selection to receive this honor is based on the positive work that Meadows has done with the athletes in Geneva’s basketball program, the release states.

“We at the IHSA are so proud to submit their name to the National Federation of State High School Associations who sponsors the award,” stated Craig Anderson, executive director at IHSA.

Meadows has spent her 17 years in education at Geneva High School as a physical education teacher, and this award represents her talent and love of coaching, according to Geneva Athletic Director Dave Carli.

“This award reflects the great things that coach Meadows has done for girls basketball in the state of Illinois,” Carli said. “It demonstrates how Coach Meadows works with student athletes here at GHS, which is absolutely amazing. She loves the game of basketball, loves kids and loves what she does.”
