William Jamison

TISKILWA — William Nicholas Jamison was born to Jane (Barry) and Paul Jamison of Tiskilwa on June 5, 1926. Bill left this world on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. He was 92 years old.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his two sisters, Mary Menendez and Catherine Ary; and his little brother, Joe.

Bill graduated from Tiskilwa High School in 1944. He was a Korean War era veteran and served his country in the U.S. Army from February 1951 to February 1953. He belonged to the Company A 8th Infantry, Fourth Division and attached to the 101st Airborne Division, stationed in occupied Germany.

Bill Jamison met Janice Nye in 1954 and they were joined in marriage on Jan. 16, 1956, at St. Mary’s Parish in Tiskilwa, where they attended church all their lives.

He was a farmer and a trucker, and he spent his life taking care of the land and raising his family on the farm southwest of Tiskilwa. He is survived by Janice, his loving wife of over 62 years. Also surviving are their children, Monica (Joe Morris), Julie, Joe (Phyllis Huskey), Cathy (Randy Philhower), Patrick and Bill. He is also survived by Kim Hand, a close friend and someone he considered another son.

He leaves behind many grandchildren, Kenny Jamison, Jessie Lewis, Katy Broshears (Chris Broshears), Chas Fuchs (Chad Fuchs), Rachel, Phil and John Jones, Audrey Roberts (Mike Roberts), and Donald, Brendan, Elizabeth and Mackenzie Jamison; three great-grandchildren, Leeandra, Lainey and Emmie; and his nieces and nephews and their families.

Bill Jamison will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, Jan, his family and the farm. His faith, for by his example, his children learned how to pray. His character and strong work ethic. He loved to dance with his wife and was a great fan of country music, teaching himself how to play the accordion and leading the family band.

But Bill’s greatest strength was always his kindness and generosity, a legacy that all who knew him and loved him will never forget.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Kevin Creegan of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiskilwa and Father Daniel Gifford con-celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tiskilwa, with military honors by the Sheffield Veterans Memorial Group.

His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the chapel of the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home in Princeton, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
