HALLOWEEN HANDOUT, 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, downtown Crystal Lake. Participating merchants throughout downtown Crystal Lake open their doors to invite costumed children age 12 and younger to receive a treat. SAFETY TOWN TRICK OR TREAT, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Safety Education Center, 1109 Crystal Lake Road, Lake in the Hills. Hosted by the Lake in the Hills Police Department. Children can trick or treat throughout the miniature town behind the center in a fenced area, where they can go up to each little building and meet friendly monsters and other cool characters who will hand out treats. HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR, 7 to
9 p.m. Wednesday, Drendel Ballroom in Prairie Lodge, 12880 Del Webb Blvd., Huntley. Participate in an evening dancing to the sounds of the 18-piece Let's Dance Big Band. Dance the jitterbug, Lindy, cha-cha, waltz and more. Come with or without a costume. Costume contests with prizes will be included. Cash bar.
