These Halloween-related events are scheduled:

HALLOWEEN HANDOUT, 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, downtown Crystal Lake. Participating merchants throughout downtown Crystal Lake open their doors to invite costumed children age 12 and younger to receive a treat. SAFE TRICK OR TREAT, 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sunrise Senior Living of Crystal Lake, 751 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Residents will be passing out candy in the main lobby for costumed children with adult supervision. Free. Information: 815-444-6600 or sunriseseniorliving.com.

SAFETY TOWN TRICK OR TREAT, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Safety Education Center, 1109 Crystal Lake Road, Lake in the Hills. Hosted by the Lake in the Hills Police Department. Children can trick or treat throughout the miniature town behind the center in a fenced area, where they can go up to each little building and meet friendly monsters and other cool characters who will hand out treats. HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR, 7 to
9 p.m. Wednesday, Drendel Ballroom in Prairie Lodge, 12880 Del Webb Blvd., Huntley. Participate in an evening dancing to the sounds of the 18-piece Let's Dance Big Band. Dance the jitterbug, Lindy, cha-cha, waltz and more. Come with or without a costume. Costume contests with prizes will be included. Cash bar. JOE DIAMOND PRESENTS: "PARANORMAL," 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lakeside Arts Park at the Dole, 401 Country Club Road, Crystal Lake. Mind reader Joe Diamond stars in a one-hour show that includes mind reading, sideshow stunts, ghost stories, psychic readings and a 19th-century séance. 16TH ANNUAL "NOTHIN' UP MY SLEEVE," 7 p.m. Friday, Raue Center for the Arts, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake. A spooktacular family-friendly magic variety show filled with some of the finest magic, juggling and comedy entertainment, with a Halloween theme.
