Rehabilitation Services now called Shirley Ryan AbilityLab at Silver Cross

The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago became the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and Silver Cross is excited to follow suit.

The AbilityLab carries the name of entrepreneur Shirley Ryan; Shirley and her husband Pat are long-time supporters and advocates of RIC’s mission.

The name change to the AbilityLab represents the new research-focused care delivery model now offered at the world-renowned rehabilitation hospital in downtown Chicago, shifting the focus from disability to ability, and from the process of rehabilitation to outcomes.

It reflects the AbilityLab’s vision and strategy; is differentiating and memorable; and underscores the important relationship between humanity and science. Many drivers shaped the name change—including comprehensive research and extensive conversations with stakeholders.
