Tropical Smoothie Cafe, 12162 S. Route 47, will return to offering its freshly made smoothies, salads, wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads and bowls.
To mark the occasion, the Huntley Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the cafe Tuesday morning.
The Route 47 property has housed a Tropical Smoothie Cafe since 2011. Bhavesh Patel took ownership of the business in July, and he said there were not a lot of major changes to get the business up and running.
Patel, who also owns Subways in Elgin and Sycamore, said his hope is to open another location in five years.
According to the company’s website, Tropical Smoothie Cafe began in 1997 in Tallahassee, Florida, by serving smoothies made with fresh fruits and vegetables, guided by the belief that when you eat better, you feel better.
In addition to inspiring a healthier lifestyle, Tropical Smoothie Cafe also has donated millions of dollars to a charity in Maine that provides experiences for children with life-threatening diseases, according to the website.
Patel said he intends to carry on this spirit of giving back by donating to community churches, elementary schools and other local efforts.
The restaurant’s hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Patel said catering and delivery services also are available.
