Counselor at Bolingbrook school honored

Danielle McDermott, a RAMP-certified counselor at Brooks Middle School in Bolingbrook, recently was honored as one of the Pillars of Valley View.

She regularly is seen visiting classrooms to help students address academics, social/emotional needs, and college and career awareness.

She also interacts with staff and parents on a daily basis to build strong partnerships between home and school.

She organizes tutoring schedules for all Brooks eighth-grade students and also several schoolwide celebrations to recognize students for academic success, attendance and being positive role models.

McDermott also is the driving force behind Brooks Career Day, which is always a huge hit at Brooks Middle School, and sponsors National Jr. Honor Society, newspaper club and Girls Run This Town.
