Crystal Lake Lions Club seeking donations of eyeglasses, hearing aids

The Lions of Illinois Foundation is a statewide organization dedicated to the evaluation,
treatment and research of vision and hearing disorders.

Throughout the year, Lions Club members and volunteers collect recycled eyeglasses and hearing aids to be reconditioned and redistributed. Eyeglasses are cleaned, sorted by prescription and distributed to mission groups who then distribute them to people with a low income or in third-world countries.

The Crystal Lake Lions Club provides assistance to individuals who cannot afford to buy hearing aids. Recycled hearing aids are reconditioned and dispensed by a local audiology center.

The Lions Club has placed recycling boxes in 20 locations throughout the
community. Sites are listed on the club's website at www.crystallakelions.org.

Used eyeglasses program chairman Bob Moravec said 15,000 pairs of eyeglasses have been collected in the past two years. The Lion Club appreciates the community’s support of the program.
