U.S. News & World Report: Central DuPage Hospital among best in country

WINFIELD – U.S. News & World Report has recognized Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield as one of the top hospitals in the country in its 2018-19 best hospitals rankings.

The hospital is ranked No. 6 in the Chicago metro area and No. 7 in Illinois, according to a news release from Northwestern Medicine. Central DuPage Hospital’s orthopaedics program also earned a national ranking, placing 32nd on the Best Hospitals in America specialty rankings for orthopaedics, the release stated.

For the 2018-19 rankings, U.S. News evaluated hospitals across 16 specialties and nine procedures and conditions. Only 158 hospitals, or about 3 percent of the more than 4,500 hospitals evaluated, were nationally ranked in even one specialty, according to the release.

In addition to ranking No. 32 in orthopaedics, Central DuPage Hospital also was recognized as high performing in diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, and neurology and neurosurgery.

“We are honored to be named among an impressive group of hospitals all well-known for extraordinary compassionate and skillful care,” hospital President Brian Lemon said in the release. “Our physicians, nurses, other caregivers and all who support them are committed and driven to achieve excellence and keep patients first in everything we do.”
