The 54th McHenry County Fair talent contest will take place Friday.
This year will be feature a tight competition, said Kathy Thomas, who has coordinated the show for about 40 years. Juniors start at 7 p.m., followed by seniors at 8:30 p.m. in the Hansen Pavilion.
The contest entry period has passed, and a preliminary round took place Sunday.
Cash prizes for the top three winners in each division totals $900. These contestants will compete Friday night:

The McHenry County Fair runs through Sunday at the fairgrounds, 11900 Country Club Road, Woodstock. Daily tickets cost $8 for adults (age 13 and older); $5 for seniors (age 60 and older), children and veterans; and are free for children younger than 5. There is no extra fee to watch the talent contest.
