Texas Roadhouse in Crystal Lake is teaming up with the Crystal Lake and Algonquin police departments for the eighth annual Texas Roadhouse Benefit Lunch for Special Olympics Illinois.
Police officers will serve a free lunch from a limited menu from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. Friday. The benefit lunch menu includes a pulled pork sandwich, corn, fresh-baked bread with honey-cinnamon butter and a nonalcoholic beverage.
Diners are asked to leave a donation for their meal, all of which will benefit the estimated 22,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 18,500 young athletes ages 2 to 7 of Special Olympics Illinois.
During the event, diners can enter for a chance to win a free dinner for two at Texas Roadhouse by posting a photo from their location on social media using the hashtag #igotserved.
Both dine-in and carryout options will be available at Texas Roadhouse, 835 Cog Circle. The restaurant can be reached at 815-356-7427.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraising arm benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. The annual intrastate relay and its various fundraising projects have two goals: to raise money and to gain awareness for the athletes who participate in Special Olympics Illinois. The Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised about $31 million over
28 years while increasing awareness of Special Olympics Illinois athletes and their accomplishments.
