Holiday Inn hotel and convention center to undergo renovation

The Holiday Inn Chicago NW Crystal Lake Convention Center now is under new ownership and will undergo a major renovation.

The new ownership’s vision is to invest and develop in Crystal Lake, according to a statement sent to the Northwest Herald.

The center also is being led by a new management company.

“The new ownership team’s goal is to be long-term active community members,” according to the statement.

“Our intention is to maintain a local focus, invest in training with our staff, enhance our relations with the community and be socially responsible. The new ownership is family-owned and intends to keep the Holiday Inn Crystal Lake as the premier, full-service hotel in McHenry County.”

The hotel, 800 S. Route 31, will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation this winter to make “the Holiday Inn Crystal Lake a state-of-the-art modern hotel.”

The guest rooms, lobby, ballroom, restaurant, fitness center and meeting spaces will be redesigned. The hotel also will be equipped with upgraded technology. Guest rooms, meeting spaces, the fitness center and restaurant will be upgraded.

The hotel will remain fully open and operational during this time as the renovation will occur floor by floor. The renovation is anticipated to be completed by summer 2019.
