OREGON – Adam Young, 42, formerly of Oregon, died Thursday, May 24, 2018.
He was born Nov. 9, 1975, in Dixon, to Douglas and Sue Young. Adam enlisted in the Army Reserves after graduating in 1993 from Oregon High School. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Cubs fan. Adam enjoyed attending numerous live music festivals and concerts with friends and family. He was quick-witted and loved to talk about politics. Adam was equally easy-going and free-spirited. He worked proudly as a carpenter throughout his life, enjoying building with his hands. Adam appreciated the outdoors with activities like fishing, playing catch and camping.
Adam is survived by his father, Douglas (Cheryl) Young of Hebron; his sister, Nichole (Brad Gerry) Gilbert of Oregon; nieces and nephews, Claire and Carter Gilbert of Oregon and Anthony and Britney Gerry of Bolingbrook; and several uncles and aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sue (Henrichsen) Young-Burgess; his stepfather, Jim Burgess; his maternal and paternal grandparents; two uncles; and cousins.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. June 9 at White Pines State Park, 6712 W. Pines Road, Mount Morris.
