NAPERVILLE – Suzanne (Apple) Hedberg, 77, of Naperville, formerly of Sterling, died Friday evening, May 25, 2018, at Season’s Hospice in Naperville, surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 2, 1940, in Sterling, to Joseph and Clarine (DePasquale) Apple. She married Dennis Hedberg on Aug.15, 1981. He preceded her in death in February.
Suzanne spent her life caring for others as a registered nurse. Her last position was with the DuPage County Jail. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge and pinochle, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. Suzanne played the piano and loved to sing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Suzanne Helfman of Las Vegas; her sons, Scott (Sarah) Howerton of Council, Idaho, Joseph Howerton of Naperville, and Edward (Amy) Howerton of Montgomery; a sister, Nancy Hedberg of Chicago; and eight grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James; and a sister, Joline Swallow.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Ave., Sterling. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling for the immediate family.
A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer’s Association, 850 Essington Road, No. 200, Joliet, IL 60435.
