A.D. Huesing buys Stewart Beverage

Rock Island company takes possession of Fourth Street building

STERLING – Rock Island-based beverage bottling company A.D. Huesing Corp. has finalized its purchase of the Stewart Beverage Corp. in Sterling.

Huesing closed on the Stewart acquisition May 11. It paid $500,000 for the building at 1307 W. Fourth St., according to the warranty deed filed on the property May 16.

Huesing, a private company, did not disclose the financial terms of the Stewart acquisition.

In the rapidly consolidating beverage industry, Huesing has been actively pursuing deals. It bought the G&M Distributors Pepsi Division in March. G&M, based in Galesburg, has a presence in Lee County, where it bought Dixon’s LRB Distributors in 2016.

G&M got out of the Pepsi business to focus on beer. Its purchase of LRB, an Anheuser-Busch InBev wholesaler, more than doubled G&M’s Anheuser-Busch market share in Illinois.

Huesing is an independently owned Pepsi-Cola franchise bottling company. A family business founded in 1899, it has partnered with Pepsi since 1935.

Stewart Beverage, a single-site business, was established in 1937.
