Recently resigned Marlowe Middle School Principal Henry Soltesz wrote in his resignation letter that he expects to be placed in a different position within District 158 for next school year.
"I do not feel that at this time the role of an administrator is beneficial to my situation," Soltesz wrote in a letter of resignation to Interim Superintendent Bradley Hawk. The Northwest Herald received the letter through a Freedom of Information Act request.
Soltesz added that he is resigning with the understanding that he will be placed in a different position within District 158 for the 2018-2019 school year.
When asked why Soltesz resigned and if he left for another job, District 158 communications director Dan Armstrong said "he’s dealing with personal matters at this time and we don’t have a lot of detail to share beyond that it’s a personal situation."
Assistant principals Rita Castans and Jennifer Fisher will lead the school for the remainder of the year, and a search process to find a permanent replacement will begin soon, Hawk wrote in an email sent to parents.
Soltesz has led Marlowe Middle School for the past two years, first as interim principal and then as principal.
"Over the past two years, Mr. Soltesz has led the school through some difficult challenges and has helped contribute to a positive learning environment for all students," Hawk said in the email. "We are confident that Ms. Castans and Ms. Fisher will do a great job leading the school for the remaining weeks of school."
The school, at 9625 Haligus Road in Lake in the Hills, has an enrollment of about 1,462 and serves seventh- and eighth-graders. It is one of the district's two middle schools.
