OREGON – Charles W. Hitchcock, 82, a lifelong resident of Oregon, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home.
He was born Jan. 10, 1936 in Oregon to William and Juanita (Personette) Hitchcock, and married Bernice Himes on Nov. 13, 1954 in Byron. She died Jan. 7, 2015.
Chuck was employed at Rockford Drop Forge and Kable Printing before retiring and he was a longtime crossing guard for Oregon schools. He was a member of East Oregon Church of God and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cookouts and fishing.
He is survived by sons Charles A. and Jim Hitchcock, both of Oregon, and Allen (Linda) Hitchcock of Janesville, Wisconsin; daughters Rose (Royal) Ferge, Bernice (Dan) Jenkins and Nancy Sigler, all of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brothers Jerry (Joan) Hitchcock and Daniel (Judy) Hitchcock, both of Oregon.
He also was preceded in death by his grandson, Shannon Sigler; brothers Bob and Jack; and sisters Dolores and Karen.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in East Oregon Church of God with the Rev. John Guthrie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery in rural Oregon.
