No one was shot or arrested Sunday after a gun was fired at a home in the 1900 block of Main Street Road, Spring Grove, police said.

Reggie Banks, 19, had a friend over Sunday night when an acquaintance he hadn't seen in months reached out and asked to come over, Banks told the Northwest Herald on Monday.

The situation began to feel "suspicious" when the other man arrived with someone the 19-year-old said he didn't know.

That's when the evening went from what was supposed to be a few friends hanging out and turned into "something different," Banks said.

The men didn't make it far past the front door before one of their pistols fired a single shot that went through the door and into a kitchen wall about 8:45 p.m., Banks said.

A neighbor heard the gunshot and called 911. Officers arrived at the home within two minutes and remained there into the early morning.

A 63-year-old man and 9-year-old girl were home at the time, Banks said.

Spring Grove Police Chief Thomas Sanders did not go into details surrounding how or why the gun was fired, but he said a "struggle" took place.

Faint smears of blood could be seen on the home's front door Monday afternoon.

The situation remains under investigation. Sanders said it's an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.

Banks said he suspects the men thought they could get money from him, but he believes the gun was shot by accident.

Two people were taken to Centegra Hospital – McHenry, and one person was treated at the scene. Banks described the injuries as minor.
