Police: Abusive husband disturbs wife with truck horn honking

Wife filed protective order against husband, alleging abuse, stalking

JOLIET – An allegedly abusive husband violated a protective order his wife filed against him after driving past her home and honking his truck horn, police said.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday, Daniel A. Kallio, 36, who resides at the Motel 6 at 3551 Mall Loop Drive, was arrested and booked into Will County jail on a charge of violating an order of protection.

On Monday, Kallio’s wife filed a protective order against him, alleging he sent her threatening text messages, caused a disturbance at her home while drunk and physically harmed her. She also claimed Kallio stalked her and harassed her parents.

“Dan has a drinking problem and I don’t want him around my kids or myself. All he does is scream at all of us. He tells my kids that I am garbage,” his wife alleged.

His wife told police officers that he keeps driving past her residence and into her driveway, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email. She said she had an active protective order against her husband but it had not been served.

At 10:50 pm. Tuesday, officers served Kallio and several hours later, he allegedly violated the order by driving past her home while honking his truck horn, Gregory said. Kallio was located by Crest Hill police and arrested at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of Plainfield Road.

Kallio’s wife filed for divorce on March 8. She stated in her petition for the dissolution of the marriage that they married on June 25, 2016, and separated on Feb. 27.

They have two children she is seeking sole parental responsibility for.
