Complaint: Thieves ran credit card scams at New Lenox Walmart

Suspects captured, jailed in Missouri

JOLIET – New Lenox police have an arrest warrant for two suspects from Miami, who ran financial schemes involving stolen credit card information at Walmart, according to a criminal complaint.

The warrant was issued Tuesday for Lazaro Fernandez-Iglesias, 38, and Yanelsis Hernandez-Romero, 32, both of Miami, on charges of a running a financial criminal enterprise, identity theft and defrauding several banks.

Both are listed as current detainees of the Boone County Jail in Columbia, Missouri, as of Thursday afternoon. They are being held there on forgery and fraud charges.

In an 18-month period, Fernandez-Iglesias allegedly committed financial fraud at BMO Harris, Chase and PNC banks while at the New Lenox Walmart, according to the criminal complaint.

Fernandez-Iglesias allegedly used debit and credit card information from those banks that were issued to several other people to buy gift cards.

Hernandez-Romero allegedly used a debit card account number issued to another person in six transactions between 4:55 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. June 15 at the 501 E. Lincoln Highway Walmart.

The warrant for Fernandez-Iglesias carries a $150,000 bond while the one for Hernandez-Romero has a $50,000 bond.
