Western Springs students raise $11,000 at St. Baldrick's event with Jim Peterik, Salon Hype

Berwyn native Jim Peterik, of Survivor and Ides of March fame, attends a St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser March 12 at Forest Hills Elementary School in Western Springs, during which he performed "Eye of the Tiger" and stylists from Salon Hype’s La Grange, Burr Ridge and Oakbrook Terrace locations shaved the heads of Forest Hills students and teachers.

The school raised a total of $11,000 – $7,000 of which will go to a 7-year-old student battling leukemia and $4,000 of which will go to the foundation.

In all, Salon Hype staff shaved 28 heads.

The salon is owned by Ross Bartolomei, a cancer survivor who is again battling lymphoma.
