Police: Joliet man smashed up car, shot at people

JOLIET – A Joliet man allegedly smashed a car with concrete and shot at it while there were four people inside, police said.

At about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Joliet police officers were in the 400 block of South Eastern Avenue after receiving a report of a disturbance and met several people who were victims of an alleged attack, Joliet Deputy Police Deputy Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.

The four victims, three in their early 30s and one juvenile, were inside of their black Yukon vehicle when it was allegedly damaged by Andre Q. Williams, 34, of the 300 block of South Des Plaines Street, who used pieces of concrete and asphalt in his attack in the vehicle, according to police.

The passenger side windows and rear window of the car were damaged, Gregory said.

One of the victims alleged that Williams allegedly shot at them while they were in the vehicle and that he was standing near an alley.

Gregory said while the officers were speaking with the victims, other officers stopped Williams near his home and reportedly found handguns and ammunition in an unsecured garage next to the alley. Two spent shell casings were also allegedly found on the scene.

Williams also had an arrest warrant for a domestic battery charge dating from Oct. 3.

After he was arrested, Williams was booked into the Will County jail. His bond was set at $5,000.
