Wondertucky Distillery and Bottling Inc. leaving Woodstock location

WOODSTOCK – Not quite a year after announcing plans to expand, Wondertucky Distillery and Bottling Inc. has decided to leave its Woodstock location.

The distillery, 315 E. South St., announced plans to relocate on its Facebook page in February, and the Woodstock City Council will vote whether to remove its liquor license Tuesday.

"Our distillery will be closed to the public for a short time while we are relocating to a bigger and better building," owner David Cunningham wrote in the post. "We will let you know when it's time for our grand reopening party."

An employee who answered the phone Sunday confirmed that the distillery is closed and that the owners plan to move the business out of Woodstock. A new location has not been solidified, she said.

The distillery offers homemade whiskey and bourbon along with seasonal, infused liquor. Wondertucky’s products are offered in more than 200 bars, restaurants and stores, including Jewel-Osco and Binny’s Beverage Depot.

The facility has seen changes since its 2013 opening. In December 2016, a tasting room was added, and in August, it gained approval to offer outdoor tastings.

Cunningham said last year that he wanted to open a larger location that could offer live music and a restaurant in addition to the distillery and tasting room.

The Woodstock City Council will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 121 W. Calhoun St., to void the establishment’s liquor license.
