Discount Tire coming to Richmond Road in Johnsburg

JOHNSBURG – Discount Tire is coming to Johnsburg, and a multi-unit retail development is in the works for the neighboring lot.

Discount Tire plans to build a 7,680-square-foot shop on Richmond Road near Walmart.

The village of Johnsburg approved conditional use permits at a recent meeting for both the tire store and the retail development at 2905 and 2911 Richmond Road.

Halle Properties LLC plans to start construction on the Discount Tire store this year, said Diane Menza, a real estate agent representing the site.

“They have submitted a development schedule to the village but still have to obtain building permits,” she said.

The proposed 9,600-square-foot retail building could fit up to six tenants, according to a public notice. Its development is pending negotiation with potential retailers, Menza said.

Bruce Halle – who died Jan. 4 – founded Discount Tire in 1960.

The Arizona-based chain operates more than 975 stores across 34 states and is the nation's largest independent tire and wheel retailer, according to its website.
