The village of Oswego, through its contracted waste hauler Groot Industries, is offering free curbside collection of live Christmas trees through Friday, Jan. 12.
Residents should place their bare trees, free of lights, ornaments, tinsel and other decorations, by the curb before 6 a.m. on their regularly scheduled garbage day. Do not place your tree in a bag.
No yard waste sticker is needed for this special free collection.
Residents who miss this collection will need to store their tree until the yard waste collection program begins again in April. A sticker will be needed at that time. Residents are also reminded that there was no garbage collection on New Year’s Day. Collection is pushed back one day for the remainder of this week.
For additional information on this or any other waste collection services, including electronics recycling, curbside compost and other services available in the village, visit oswegoil.org/government/departments/public-works/garbage-recycling.aspx or call the public works department at 630-554-3242.
