Forest Preserve District’s IT director earns recognition

Denise Steffen, director of information technology for the Forest Preserve District of Will County, was chosen as the October 2017 Member of the Month for GMIS International, an association of government IT leaders.

Steffen, of New Lenox, was selected for this recognition based on her service and management of the district’s IT department, according to the Austin, Texas-based organization. This year, Steffen has overseen a plan to bring increased network communications to forest preserve visitor centers.

She also has made modernization of the district’s IT disaster recovery center a top priority following a fire that damaged the site in April. Steffen has been a member of GMIS since 2013.
