Walter L. Fields Jr.

CINCINNATI – Walter Leo Fields Jr., 92, formerly of Fulton, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, in Cincinnati. He worked in education for 40 years, retiring in 1989 to his wife's family's tree farm in Fulton.

He was born May 3, 1925, in Straughn, Indiana, a son of Mary Oma (Blandford) and Walter Fields Sr. He married Dorothy Abbott of Fulton. She preceded him in death. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy from 1944 to 1946.

Survivors include his five children, Terry Fields of Blackshear, Georgia, Kim (Karen) Fields of Vandalia, Ohio, Scott (Sherry) Fields of Aurora, West Virginia, Susan (Charlie) Lightsey of Blackshear, and Mary (Mark) Johnson of Fairfield, Ohio; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three siblings.

Memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton. A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Albany. Burial will be at Cottonwood Cemetery in rural Morrison.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Marian University Walter Fields Endowed Scholarship Fund.
