Roger L. Etnyre

OREGON – Roger L. Etnyre, 89, lifelong Oregon resident, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.

He was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Oregon, the son of Robert D. and Eloise (Robbins) Etnyre. Roger was a graduate of Oregon High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and his Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University. He married Jane Ione Brooke on June 19, 1954, in Oregon. She died Jan. 5, 1998. He then married Eileen Monet, and she also preceded him in death. The third generation of his family at E.D. Etnyre & Co., Roger was employed for more than 67 years, serving many roles focusing on manufacturing, including manufacturing manager and chairman of the board. He enjoyed his work and business, but also extensive travelling, especially trips to Mexico, for many years. Roger was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon.

He is survived by his son, Donald (Nancy) Etnyre of Oregon; daughter, Rebecca Bamborough of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren: Brooke Etnyre, Robin Etnyre, Seth Koeppen, Garetty Koeppen and Christopher Bamborough; and special friend of the past 7 years, Joan Falkenstrom.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Beth Etnyre; grandson, Nathan Bamborough; and sister, Marilyn Venohr.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon, with Pastor Rich Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roger’s name may be made to Serenity Hospice & Home, Village of Progress, St. Paul Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
