Volo Auto Museum to open special exhibit honoring Princess Diana

VOLO – The Volo Auto Museum plans to open a special exhibit Thursday dedicated to Princess Diana.

The museum will display Princess Diana’s specially equipped and royally appointed Rolls Royce Silver Spur that she toured Chicago and Evanston in, according to a news release from the museum.

The exhibit also will feature archived photos and documents from her final U.S. visit.

Admission will be free for patrons visiting on Thursday, which is the 20th anniversary of the princess’ death.

“Princess Diana was known for her kindness and numerous acts of charity that so often benefited children. We wanted to do something that would have made her smile,” museum director Brian Grams said in a statement. “So, in lieu of admission, we will accept voluntary donations to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.”

The museum also has created a tribute video in her memory.

The display will be on view through Sept. 4.
