Johnna R. Comer

STERLING – Johnna Rae Walker Comer, 65, of Sterling, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Johnna was born May 31, 1952, in Morrison the daughter of John and Betty Walker. She married John Comer on Aug. 20, 1972. Johnna had many accomplishments in life and had many titles, including mother, wife, friend, and teacher. Johnna was a foster parent throughout her years to more than 35 children. She taught for various school districts, most recently for Bi-County Special Education Co-Operative. She was a faithful member of Harvest Time Bible Church for 27 years. Johnna loved life, Jesus, and others, and will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her loving husband, John, of Sterling, for 44 years; her mother, Betty Walker of Rock Falls; three sons, Jon Comer of Sterling, Jonathon (Jody) Comer of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and Payden Comer of Sterling; a daughter, Marcia (Adam Loescher) Comer of Dixon; two brothers, Kevin (Sharon) Walker of Nelson and Scott (Debbie) Walker of Rock Falls; a sister, Vicki Walker of Rock Falls; five grandchildren, Aubriana and Analeisa Comer and Dylan, Derrick, and Danial Martens; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Walker; a brother, Robert Walker; her niece, Christa Walker; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hope Life Center.
