HUNTLEY – A man was arrested Friday morning after officers seized 49 marijuana plants from his Huntley home.

The North Central Narcotics Task Force searched the house at 10398 Scott Drive, Huntley, at 6:31 a.m. Friday.

The raid led to the arrest of Brian Hensley, 40, and the seizure of 49 marijuana plants, more than 6 pounds of marijuana, shotgun ammunition, marijuana oil production equipment and marijuana growing equipment, said Bill Backus, director of the North Central Narcotics Task Force.

Backus said the estimated street value of the plants is $49,000, and the estimated street value of the marijuana is $7,500.

Hensley, who lives in the home, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana-based product manufacturing equipment, possession of marijuana plants, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition without a valid Firearm Owners Identification card and possession of drug paraphernalia.

If convicted of the most serious charged, Hensley could face four to 15 years in prison.

Backus declined to comment on the investigation leading up to the seizure.

A woman at the home declined to comment. Some of the neighbors said they didn’t see the seizure when it took place, and others declined to comment.

Huntley Deputy Police Chief Michael Klunk said the police department works with state and county task forces to try and stop the production, sale and use of drugs in town.

“These are illicit activities that are going on within the village, and we want to hamper this activity and do the best we can to control it and make it a safe environment,” Klunk said.

Hensley is being held at the McHenry County Jail, according to jail records. A judge had not set bond in the case as of Friday afternoon.

A major drug bust took place in 2015 on a nearby street, in the 9600 block of Bennington Drive in Huntley. Officers found thousands of dollars in cash; 295 pounds of marijuana; more than 60 pills of MDMA, also known as Molly; more than 500 prescription painkillers; and 25 grams of cocaine.

Nicholas Domino of Huntley was arrested at the time and remains in the McHenry County Jail. Domino is due in court July 28 for a negotiated plea.
