Gene E. ‘Dreamer’ Langley

ROCKFORD – Gene Emmet “Dreamer” Langley, 75, of Rockford, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport.

Gene was born July 24, 1941, in Rockford, the son of Glen Raymond and Frances Marie (Johnson) Langley. He graduated from Winnebago High School. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving from July 30, 1963 to July 28, 1967. Gene drove a truck for Harold Burkhart in Seward, and HWI in Dixon. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, bowling, and during the winter season, living in Florida.

Gene is lovingly survived by his sons, Michael (Tess) Langley of Las Vegas, Kevin (Rhonda) Langley of Winnebago, and Brian (Destiny) Langley of Lyndon; stepdaughter, Brandie (Jim) Uselman of Salem; nine grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Harriett) Langley and Jay Langley, both of Winnebago; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and longtime girlfriend, Jean Cargill of Amboy.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. Cremation rites were accorded.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
