Mexican restaurant in Shorewood to open this week

SHOREWOOD – A new Mexican restaurant in Shorewood may open as early as this week.

Burritos Mi Tierra, 643 Brook Forest Ave., could open this week, during the weekend or Monday at the latest, said Luis Garcia, owner of the restaurant. Garcia and his family also own the same restaurant in Romeoville.

Garcia said the Shorewood location will have the same menu as the one in Romeoville, which he has operated for almost 10 years. The Shorewood location also has a drive thru.

“It’s been working in Romeoville. That’s why I’m using the same menu,” Garcia said.

Burritos Mi Tierra will replace the former location of rQ Barbecue & Catering Services off Route 59 in Shorewood. The restaurant offers breakfast, salad and soups, tortas, tacos quesadillas and more. The restaurant also offers catering.

Garcia said the recipes come from his wife’s family and that he has received support from his whole family in running the restaurant in Romeoville.

“We are working all together,” he said.
