A new president has been appointed for Kishwaukee and Valley West hospitals after Kevin Poorten, the hospitals’ president since 2002, was promoted to president of Northwestern Medicine’s west region.
As of May 1, Poorten has oversight over four Northwestern hospitals in the western suburbs, including Central
DuPage, DeInor, Kishwaukee and Valley West, and he will work closely with the president of each hospital, according to a news release.
Jay Anderson will assume Poorten’s duties as president of Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb and Valley West Hospital in Sandwich.
Anderson joined Northwestern Medicine in 2001 and held several senior-level leadership positions, including his recent role as senior vice president of quality, analytics and performance for the health system, according to the release.
Dean M. Harrison, president and CEO of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, said in a statement that Poorten’s expanded role will build upon his success since joining the health system.
Harrison led the executive team that chose Anderson to succeed Poorten.
“Kevin has been instrumental in the integration of KishHealth with Northwestern Medicine and development of new clinical services in the DeKalb and Sandwich communities,” Harrison said.
Poorten also is senior vice president of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, a role he will maintain with his promotion, media relations director Christopher King said.
Harrison’s statement goes on to praise Anderson’s ability to take on his new role.
“We believe Jay’s diverse health care background and his more than 16 years of experience within our health system will allow for the advancement of our ‘Patients First’ mission in DeKalb, Sandwich and the surrounding communities we are so proud to serve,” Harrison said.
