Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Housewalk to raise funds for area agencies

GLEN ELLYN – Tickets are now on sale for the 33rd annual Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Housewalk on May 12.

The housewalk will feature Glen Ellyn homes showcasing both modern and historic architecture and design, with touring times from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.

Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 the day of the housewalk and include a raffle ticket. They can be purchased online at glenellyninfantwelfare.org.

Housewalk ticket proceeds directly support DuPage County agencies that provide services to thousands of individuals in need, including Family Shelter Service, Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, Central DuPage Pastoral Counseling Center, Community Housing of DuPage, Bridge Communities and the Philip J. Rock Center.

Through this event and others, the Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society was able to answer community agency requests of more than $100,000 last year.

The society was established in 1926 by five women who saw children lacking basic nutrition. The women made and sold aprons to buy milk for these families.

Along with raising funds, the members of the group also volunteer their time to such organizations as the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, People’s Resource Center and Family Shelter Service. The society also provides scholarships.
