James E. ‘Jim’ Hodge

DIXON – James E. “Jim” Hodge, 69, of Dixon, died Friday, April 28, 2017, at Iowa City Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital, in Iowa City, Iowa. He worked for Anchor Coupling Inc. in Dixon for 22 years, before his retirement.

James was born May 5, 1947, in Dixon, the son of George and Mary Catherine (Vock) Hodge. He married Dawn Lenox on Dec. 5, 1981, in Dixon. James served in the Army during Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Josi (Steve) Yocum of Franklin Grove, Jenny (Steven) Hardman of Waterman, and Deedra Hodge of Dixon; two brothers, Orville (Judy) Hodge of Rock Falls and Joseph (Pat) Hodge of Sterling; one sister, Lucille (Herman) Michels of Springfield; and four grandchildren, Derek Siebert, Nicholas “Nick” Yocum, and Jeremy and Evelyn Hardman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jason Hodge; and one sister, Louise Hodge.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, with military honors provided by the Dixon combined veterans organizations, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Dave Rogula, pastor of Esmond United Methodist Church in Esmond, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
