CARPENTERSVILLE – Meat and potato lovers visiting Carpentersville likely will have a new restaurant to try this summer.

The owners of Meat & Potato Eatery in McHenry are looking to open a second location in Carpentersville.

The Carpentersville restaurant is expected to open in either July or August at 2258 Randall Road. The building on Randall formerly was occupied by Garibaldi’s Italian Eatery, which closed in 2011.

Meat & Potato Eatery offers customers comfort foods such as crispy chicken, pot roast, meat and potato bowls, meatloaf and potato wedges. It is owned by brothers Ted and Andy Zatos, who also are the owners of Brunch Cafe and former owners of Kojak's restaurant in Cary, which they owned for about 16 years.

“[Meat & Potatoes Eatery] is just a new concept we’ve been working on,” Ted Zatos said. “We’ve been doing the quick service for years, and we wanted to do more comfort food with Meat & Potatoes.”

After seeing the McHenry restaurant, at 400 S. Route 31, do well since it opened in July, Ted Zatos said he and his brother have been looking to expand the brand.

“We really listen to a lot of our customers, what they want in certain areas and what they’re looking for,” Ted Zatos said. “So we take notes and try to develop concepts they are asking for.”

Zatos said they’re in the process of going through permits and trying to finalize everything.

The McHenry and Carpentersville menus might vary depending on food items’ popularity at either location.

The McHenry restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. The eatery offers customers the options to dine-in, carry out or have their food delivered.
