St. Charles Park District: Great golfers find a league of their own at Pottawatomie

It’s official. Golfing season is well underway at Pottawatomie Golf Course, 845 N. Second Ave., St. Charles. Whether one is a dedicated or casual golfer, now is the perfect time to start thinking about how to make the most out of the time one spends at the most beautiful course in the Fox Valley.

For friends, family or co-workers who enjoy playing golf on a regular basis, this might just be the year to commit to making your games official by registering for a men’s or women’s golf league.

League play is a great way to commit to regularly getting out on the course. By providing an ideal environment for golfers looking to hone their skills in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere, the game can be as relaxing or as challenging as a player desires. Leagues also offer a way to bond with old friends or make new ones, network with business associates or bring family members together.

Best yet, registering for league play is like having a permanent tee time in the middle of the week. Pottawatomie Golf Course offers a Men’s League from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays from May 10 to Aug. 2. The Women’s League is from 6 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays from May 23 to Aug. 8. Innovative activities, such as Ringer Board and Birdie Tree, help ramp up the fun.

The fees are $60 per golfer for the Men’s League and $40 per golfer for the Women’s League. Regular greens fees apply each week, and pull carts are included in the fee. Registration takes place at the Pro Shop with assistant golf manager Bill Ogiego.

Pottawatomie Golf Course also is offering Senior Golf Days every Monday all season long for players age 60 and older. For only $14, golfers can play a round – a great bargain for single players, couples and groups. Grandparents who want to share their love of the game with grandchildren can include them for only $12 per player.

This season also sees new hours and fees at Pottawatomie Golf Course. Golfers can enjoy four extra hours of play Monday through Friday at a discounted rate of $15 for play before 8 a.m. or from 3 p.m. to twilight.

For information about golf times, fees, lessons and league play, contact Bill Ogiego at 630-584-8356 or golf course manager and PGA golf pro Ron Skubisz at 630-513-4353.
