GLEN ELLYN – Two Glen Ellyn residents have been charged in an armed robbery that occurred at about 1 a.m. March 27 at Dunkin' Donuts, 651 Roosevelt Road, Glen Ellyn.
Lauren M. Petty, 31, and Otis L. Ramsey, 46, both of the 600 block of Roosevelt Road, have been charged with armed robbery, according to a news release from the Glen Ellyn Police Department.
Police officers responded to the scene after an employee escaped through the drive-thru window during the robbery, the release stated.
The employee ran to a nearby business and called 911 after being confronted by two suspects demanding money from the store's cash register. One of the suspects was armed with what the employee thought was a knife, according to the release.
The suspects fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money prior to police arriving at the scene. However, officers were able to locate the two suspects following the description given by the victim, and they were taken into custody in the parking lot of a nearby hotel, the release stated.
Petty allegedly was armed with a pair of long scissors that she used to threaten the employee, according to the release. After the employee escaped, Ramsey allegedly accessed the cash register and removed the currency, and both fled from the store, the release stated.
Both Petty and Ramsey previously worked at the store, according to the release.
