Possession of heroin, DUI
Yorkville police arrested Brennan J. Thomas, 29, of the 2000 block of North Lake Drive, Ottawa, March 5 for possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and driving under the influence of drugs. Police said they were advised of a reckless driver traveling southbound on Route 47 in the area of Route 34. Police stopped Thomas's vehicle in the area of Route 47 and Fountainview Drive. As Thomas exited the vehicle, police said they observed "a large unknown bulge... in his basketball shorts concealed in the buttock area." Thomas "admitted it was heroin," police said. Thomas failed field sobriety tests, police said.
DUI
Yorkville police arrested Travis Bateman, 22, of the 12000 block of Fox Road, Yorkville, on March 5 at 3:20 a.m. for driving under the influence following a crash on Route 71 at Pavilion Road. Police said they responded to a vehicle stuck in a ditch, and discovered that the driver, Bateman, had driven off the roadway and struck the dirt embankment. Police said they discovered Bateman was intoxicated and arrested him for DUI.
Death investigation
Yorkville police were called to a home on Gawne Lane March 5 for a well being check that turned into a death investigation. The incident is still under investigation pending an autopsy, police said.
Cited for marijuana
Yorkville police cited Kevin Claffy, 36, of the 300 block of Walter Street, Yorkville, March 6 for unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at Route 126 and Route 71.
Cited following accident
Yorkville police cited Jessica R. Anton, 19, of the 300 block of Mulhern Court, Yorkville, Feb. 28 following an accident at the intersection of Van Emmon and Mill streets. Police said Anton's vehicle was traveling northbound on Mill and disobeyed the stop sign at Van Emmon, and her vehicle t-boned a vehicle traveling westbound on Van Emmon. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage but there were no injuries, police said. Anton was cited for disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured vehicle, and have no driver's license on her person.
Suspended license
Yorkville police arrested Iram Jesus Patino-Romero, 23, of the 100 block of Pine Street, Ottawa, Feb. 28 for driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop at Route 71 and Walsh Drive.
Failure to reduce speed
Yorkville police cited Kristina Kropidlowski, 43, of the 4000 block of Deames Street, Plano, Feb. 28 following an accident on Galena Road near Rosenwinkel Road. Police said the vehicle Kropidlowski was driving did not stop in time and rear-ended another vehicle. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, police said.
Failure to reduce speed; no insurance
Yorkville police cited Daniel Stokes, 18, of the 200 block of Bertram Drive, Yorkville, March 2 following an accident near the intersection of Route 47 and Main Street. Police said they responded to the area for report of an accident with injuries. Police said they determined that Stokes' vehicle, a 2008 Jeep Patriot, struck another vehicle that had stopped for pedestrians to cross the street. Stokes was transported to the hospital and was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, police said.
