ISP investigating death in Rock Falls motel

ROCK FALLS – Illinois State Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Monday morning at the Napp Inn motel, 510 W. Rock Falls Road/U.S. Route 30.

It’s too soon to say whether his death was homicidal, natural or accidental, said Lt. Chris Endress, adding that he hopes to schedule an autopsy for Tuesday.

He declined to release any more information, including the man’s name or whether his body showed any signs of injury, citing the ongoing investigation.

Rock Falls police requested the ISP’s assistance, and it is taking the lead in the investigation, Endress said.

Officers were on the scene most of the day. In a case such as this, police will investigate as if foul play is suspected, to ensure that all evidence is collected should it turn out to be a homicide, Endress said.

“You only get one shot to do it right.”
