STERLING – Karl W. Kilberg, 81, of Sterling, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Karl was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Sterling, the son of Karl and Margaret (Wiersema) Kilberg. He married Beth Myers on June 26, 1954, in Sterling. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2011. He was employed from 1953 to 1964 at Eureka Funeral Coach Factory in Rock Falls, and then retired from Willett, Hofmann and Associates in Dixon after more than 40 years of employment.
Survivors include one daughter, Kristen (Alan) Citterman of Arlington Heights; three sons, Steven Kilberg of Batavia, Douglas (Linda) Kilberg of Chatham, and Timothy (Una) Kilberg of McMurray, Pennsylvania; two brothers, James Kilberg and Donald (Shirley) Kilberg both of Sterling; three stepbrothers, Terry Gaskill of Tampico, Rick (Rhonda) Gaskill of Wisconsin, and Dennis (Josephine) Gaskill of Tampico; 10 grandchildren, Michelle (Ryan) Hallahan, Lauren Kilberg, Karen Kilberg, Derek (Brystol) Kilberg, Michael Kilberg, Brianna Kilberg, Erin Kilberg, Alyse Kilberg, Jessica Citterman, and Abigail Citterman; and two great-grandchildren, Anabelle and Charlotte.
He also was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, and the funeral at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Leo Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling and the National Stroke Association.
