WALNUT — Geneva A. Jensen, 75, of Walnut died Monday morning, Oct. 3, 2016, at her home.
Born Nov. 11, 1940, in Taylorville, she was a daughter of Orville and Sarah (Clark) Grant. She attended grade school in Edinburg and graduated from Ohio High School in Ohio, Ill. She married Willard “Bill” Jensen on July 8, 1967, in Walnut. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2007.
She had worked at Harper-Wyman in Princeton, Walnut Manor Nursing Home, Empire Level Co., Walmart in Sterling and transferring to the Princeton Walmart where she retired. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Walnut. She had served as a past Cub Scout den mother in Sheffield and Walnut. She was a member of the Sterling Women of the Moose and chairwomen of Mooseheart for two years, and a past member of the Walnut Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include her sons, Douglas (Brenda) Jensen of Bureau and Willard “Bill“ (Linda) Jensen of New Bedford; two daughters, Dixi Hill of Walnut and Donna (Kevin) Scanlan of Tampico; three sisters, Doris (Gene) Maxedon, Gladys Hanson and Maxine Hughes; two brothers, Fred (Julia) Grant and Clarence (Mary) Grant; and seven grandchildren, Austin (Katie), Natasha, Savanah, Cody, Evan (Katelynn), Riley and Caden.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Chad Alan Hill; four sisters, Mary Dyer, Laverne Simpson, Barbara Quickle and Alberta Willis; and a brother, Steve Grant.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Shaw, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Walnut, officiating. Burial will conclude at Walnut Cemetery.
