GLEN ELLYN – Euro Crepes is creating a sweet and savory sensation in downtown Glen Ellyn.
Owner Ilirjan Jankulla said the restaurant has been doing steady business after opening in July at 548 Crescent Blvd. in a space that previously housed a boutique shop, Fabulous Me.
"We've had a lot of repeat business," the Carol Stream man said. "Our best advertisement is by word of mouth."
For those with a sweet tooth, you're in luck. Euro Crepes serves a variety of sweet crepes, including a cheesecake crepe – Biscoff cheesecake filling with fresh cut strawberries and white chocolate drizzle, cannoli crepe – homemade cannoli filled with white chocolate chips and topped with dark chocolate drizzle, and campfire crepe – creamy marshmallow with chocolate chips, graham crackers and topped with a dark chocolate drizzle.
The restaurant also serves several different types of savory crepes, including the Euro Crepe special, which is filled with cheese, ham, crispy bacon, fresh mushrooms, green peppers, tomato and its secret homemade sauce, or the pesto crepe, which is filled with cheese, salami, fresh tomato, green onions, pesto sauce and fresh avocados.
Those who visit the restaurant also can get their crepe made to order by choosing three fillings and toppings at no extra charge. Additional toppings cost 75 cents each.
The crepes are made from an old family recipe, said Jankulla, who is originally from Greece. He has been cooking all his life and has a vast amount of restaurant experience, including previously owning a pizza restaurant in Glen Ellyn for several years. He also owned Louie's Pizza on Route 59 in Naperville for about two years before recently selling it.
For those craving something sweet besides crepes, the restaurant also serves homemade gelato. Seating is available inside and outside the restaurant.
Euro Crepes is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. To order ahead, call the restaurant at 630-403-2061.
