The United Methodist Church of Plano welcomed Pastor Stevan Saunders, his wife, Vicki, and their family on Sunday, July 3, at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
Saunders was appointed as pastor to the United Methodist Church of Plano and the Millbrook United Methodist Church effective July 1. He has served at various churches in Oswego, Marengo, and Coal City areas. He and his wife come from the Wheatland Salem United Methodist Church.
The children’s message on July 3 was “It’s a Boy,” meaning the new pastor has arrived. The children, led by Tom Zimmermann, were very creative in welcoming Saunders and his family with balloons, good wishes, and a “gift bag” presented to family members.
A cake reception was held after the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Many church family members stayed to introduce themselves to Saunders and his family and help make them feel welcome.
Sunday worship service at the United Methodist Church of Plano is at 10:30 a.m. Sunday mornings. Summer Sunday School is held during the same time until Aug. 14.
